The makers of the revolutionary We-Vibe sex toy, worn by the woman while making love, have returned victorious from the prestigious secret gifting room at the Academy Awards in Hollywood.
Bruce Murison, creator of the We-Vibe, says the response from Tinseltown celebrities was overwhelmingly positive! Murison believes that We-Vibe is helping to foster intimacy and sexually healthy lifestyles and change societal views towards adult toys.
“We accomplished our mission to demonstrate to the mainstream - celebrities and media alike - that the We-Vibe is not to be feared. It is a non-threatening, non-phallic, elegant little device that is ideal for enabling intimacy between couples while empowering women to take control of their own pleasure,” says Bruce Murison from We-Vibe headquarters in North Gower, just outside the Canadian capital city of Ottawa. “The celebrities were excited and astonished when they saw the product and how it works. The response was fantastic.”
Among the hundreds of stars who took home the We-Vibe include 90210 star AnnaLynne McCord, MTV personality and My Space diva Tila Tequila, Playboy bunny and “most downloaded woman on the net”, Cindy Margolis, American Idol runner-up Justin Guarini, actor Mario Lopez, True Beauty reality-TV star Billy Jeffrey and Eva Marcille of The Young & Restless. The couple also made contact with Glamour Magazine and renowned sexologist Dr. Ava Cadell.
“If Hollywood stars can love it this much, and have photos of themselves taken smiling and laughing with such joy and enthusiasm, we know the average consumer will enjoy it, too,” says Bruce Murison. “We also hope our success at the Oscars proves the mainstream media should be open to running articles about our product or allowing us to advertise. The We-Vibe is truly newsworthy because for the first time there is a product that enables women to enjoy the intimacy of making love and at the same time, get the climactic internal and external stimulation they desire. The We-Vibe is readily accepted by men because it does not replace them; it adds spice to their sex life and a happy woman makes for a happy man.”
The We-Vibe was the hit of the luxurious gifting room at the SLS Hotel in Beverley Hills. “It was surreal being surrounded by so many stars,” says Melody Murison. “We handed out more than 200 We-Vibes to movie stars, TV stars, Olympic athletes, publicists and Oscar nominees. Their reaction was one of total amazement that such a device finally exists.”
The We-Vibe is taking the international sex toy industry by storm, winning design awards and breaking sales records. So far, 80,000 units have been sold around the world in its first 10 months of operation.
“The Oscars were absolutely amazing,” says Bruce Murison. “We are still getting e-mails from media and stars who heard about us and want a We-Vibe. Of course our dream is still to be featured on North American TV. British and European TV shows have gone crazy over We-Vibe but if we can get North American TV viewers to see our story, then we‘ll know we’ve really gone mainstream and that society is ready for female empowerment and sexual liberation.”
Bruce and Melody Murison live in the suburbs of Ottawa. Bruce developed the We-Vibe in secret for five years after being laid off from the high tech Canadian firm, Nortel. Their fear of being stigmatized for inventing a sex toy has long since passed now that We-Vibe has gained such notoriety.
The We-Vibe was launched a year ago and was named Toy of the Year by “Viewer’s Choice – Talk Sex with Sue Johanson”. Many refer to the We-Vibe as the best sex toy of 2008 and it’s a top seller in numerous countries around the world. It was also awarded “Erotic Eline Most Innovative Product” at Venus Berlin, Germany.
The company behind the We-Vibe, Standard Innovation Corporation, is among the finalists for the Ottawa Centre for Research and Innovation’s “Startup-of-the-year Award”. The We-Vibe will also be featured in the gifting rooms at this year’s Genie Awards on April 4.
