We-Vibe donates $5,000 to iconic Bodysex documentary

Documentary to advance work of celebrated author, artist and PhD sexologist Betty Dodson

Ottawa, July 15, 2011 –We-Vibe® has donated $5,000 to support the production of a documentary showcasing 25 years of work from iconic sexual revolutionary Betty Dodson PhD. The documentary will focus on the workshops that Betty, one of the world’s principal voices on women's health and sexual liberation, ran from her New York City apartment for over two and a half decades. The documentary production will get underway soon, with plans to air this fall.

“The We-Vibe was conceived to help couples enjoy more intimacy through playful exploration, and Betty Dodson has lived this philosophy,” says Danny Osadca, We-Vibe company CEO. ”Betty has made a life of challenging convention, crashing through boundaries, and helping women worldwide gain self-acceptance. We are thrilled to be part of this new project to preserve and advance her revolutionary work.”

The “bodysex” workshops, a term coined by Betty, were two-day sessions made up of a small circle of women who would explore feelings about their bodies and about sex. The groups were an outgrowth of the feminist movement, and Betty's goal was to liberate female sexuality, something she is still striving for today.

Thousands of women, including celebrities, dignitaries, career women and housewives took this workshop to better understand their bodies and their sexuality. "Bodysex" is the word Betty coined for her work teaching women about their bodies and their orgasms.

The production of the Bodysex documentary aims to continue forwarding Betty's message of sexual liberation, to preserve this important part of feminist history, and to celebrate the woman who introduced the electric vibrator as a pleasure device to the American market among countless other notable achievements.
